About

Adam spent the Spring semester of 2011 abroad in Ghana with various excursions elsewhere, as a 19 year-old student from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He is now a Ph.D. student in the Integrative Biology Department at UC-Berkeley in Bruce Baldwin’s Lab. Other hobbies include nearly anything outdoors: skiing, hiking, canoeing, cliff jumping, swimming, biking, and especially wilderness/high adventure camping. Send any questions or suggestions for blog posts to schneada@uwec.edu. Shortly after returning from Ghana, Adam spent a summer working at the Charles Darwin Research Station in the Galapagos. You can read about his adventures there at http://backtothetropics.wordpress.com.

Hannah isn’t going to talk in third person. Hi!  I’m 19 years old as well studying at Northwestern University.  I’m studying environmental engineering, hopefully working with renewable energy sources in the future.  Hobbies?  Hmm. I like giggling and smiling and playing in the snow and playing in the sun and trying new sports (even if I’m not very good at them) and reading and running and going on adventures!  Which is why I’m here in Ghana.  I feel like I just copied Adam’s, so I’ll add something new.  My favorite color is green, my favorite food is homemade mac and cheese, and I love chocolate and smoothies and Rusty. 🙂

Africa changes your life! I can’t wait to hear of your adventures. Hanging loose is a great philosophy for any travel and especially in Africa. Write down everything new during the first few days and weeks as it is during that time that the uniqueness of the place strikes you the most.

    Enjoy!
